Interior Design Consulting Retainer Packages

Terms & Conditions

Scope of Work:

JRML (hereinafter referred to as "Designer") agrees to provide interior design consulting services, which may include consulting via voice, video, or in-person meetings, emails and text messaging.  The consulting services will be provided in blocks of time: 2-hour, 5-hour, and 10-hour retainers.

Scope of Services:

a) Survey existing space to identify conditions affecting the design.

b) Explore concepts, design style, space plans, color, and finish materials.

c) Research, select, source, and shop for furnishings, products, decorative treatments, and accessories.

d) Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for trades and suppliers.

e) Obtain cost estimates, procure, and coordinate product deliveries, workers, and installations.

Any services beyond the purchased retainer block of time will be provided at a rate of $175.00/hr.   Additional services must be approved by the Client in writing before commencement.

Reimbursable Expenses:

Reimbursable expenses may include reproductions, shipping, postage, travel (billed at half the designer’s rate), parking, and accommodations.

Procurement:

Products purchased through JRML will be contracted under a separate agreement.

Exclusions:

The Designer’s services specifically exclude fees for the retention of certain professionals or services for the project, including but not limited to:

  • Structural Engineering

  • Civil Engineering Consultants

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Consultants

  • General Contractor or Sub Contractors

  • Shop Drawings

  • Investigative work (e.g., cutting, patching, and painting) for older homes or buildings with no existing plans

  • ADA Accessibility Consultants

  • Obtaining permits of any kind

Invoicing & Payments:

Payment for each retainer block is due prior to the scheduled consulting meeting. Your retainer hours will be tracked and deducted in 0.25-hour increments.   Invoices for any additional work will be submitted and due upon receipt. Client agrees to pay up to the point of completion if this agreement is terminated. In the event of a disagreement, the parties agree to use the services of the American Arbitration Association. An interest rate of one and one-half (1 1/2) percent per month will be charged on outstanding balances remaining unpaid thirty (30) days from the date of the invoice.
